Trailer for SMOSH: The Movie starring YouTube stars Smosh

Who are these guys and why do they deserve a movie?

YouTube not only forever changed the way we watch online videos but also provided budding artists the opportunity to show off their talents. Thanks to the platform some vloggers have found fame and fortune beyond their wildest dreams. Acts such as comedian Nigahiga (Ryan Higa), make-up artist Michelle Phan and gamer PewDiePie (Felix Kjellberg) have YouTube to thank for helping them reach viewers who they would probably never have the chance of reaching. Including myself.

Which makes it very odd because I’ve never heard of Smosh before this trailer for “SMOSH: The Movie” premiered online.

Smosh is a duo of YouTube vloggers consisting of Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla. Boasting 20 million YouTube subscribers to their channel and 4 billion views in total I guess these guys do deserve a full length feature. Visit the SMOSH YouTube Channel if you’d like to watch their videos.

“SMOSH: The Movie” also features other YouTube celebrities such as Jenna Marbles, “Grace in a Box’s” creator and Grace Grace Helbig and Epic Meal Time’s Harley Morenstein to name a few.

“Smosh: The Movie” will be released in the U.S. on the 24th of July 2015. No theatrical release is planned for Malaysia and Singapore. However, fans can pre-order it on iTunes, GooglePlay, Amazon and other online retailers.
