Why does a failed video game adaptation deserve a second attempt in less than 10 years? In order to keep the rights to the “Fantastic Four”, 20th Century Fox hastily put together Josh Trank’s recent dud. Doing so they’ve managed to wrestle the rights away from Marvel Studios a little longer.
One could assume a similar situation forced “Hitman: Agent 47” to be made. No other possible reason could rationalize this inexplicable reboot.
Ever few years Hollywood hedges its bets on a young talent to become a breakout star. Timothy Olyphant, from HBO’s short-lived “Deadwood” series, at one point was the chosen one and 2007’s “Hitman” was to be his coming home party. Alas it was not to be. Though a relative financial success it didn’t leave an impression on audiences and they definitely weren’t clamoring for more.
Greed over rules good judgement and in 2015 we get the reboot starring and produced by Zachary Quinto from TV’s “Heroes” and Spock from the current “Star Trek” movies.
Check out the final trailer for “Hitman: Agent 47” on alcaTsar blog:
We get it, this movie is chock full of action scenes. We’ve seen it in trailer after trailer. Scenes which aim to be cool but unfortunately come off as half-assed. Shifting the focus to the plot involving the hitman’s target (Hannah Ware) was a wise decision. Giving away the plot twist wasn’t.
All things said and done this looks like it has all the ingredients for a good movie to watch at home. Only reason I might venture to the cinemas is to catch beautiful Singapore sights captured on the big screen.
That’s right “Hitman: Agent 47” was shot in Singapore. Watch the trailer again and see if you can catch a glimpse of Marina Bay Sands and Shenton Way.
