Singapore Faces Major Disaster in July

Independence Day, or ID4, remains one of the most fun movie going experiences of my teenage years. I’ve maybe revisited it once in my early 20’s so I’m unsure how well it still holds up. Maybe the new-and-improved effects in the sequel may outshine its predecessor but I have serious doubts the “urban” lead can out “urban” the Fresh Prince.

Jessie Usher, from Lebron James produced drama “Survivors Remorse”, takes over Will Smith as the smart talking black African American guy. Oh, and he also happens to be the on screen son of of Smiths now deceased character. Big shoes to fill. On TV he tries his best to lend credibility to his role as an up-and-coming basketball player but never quite convinces the viewer, or at least he never manages to convince me.

Looking at the latest trailer I doubt he gets as much focus as the other Hemsworth brother does so maybe it’s a bullet dodged.

We always knew they were coming back. After INDEPENDENCE DAY redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
