Nostalgia continues to fuel the economy

Voltron: Legendary Defender Cast & Crew Information Asia Release Date Plot Summary

Growing up an 80’s child meant embracing anything that could possibly distract you from your mundane life. Most of us formed an unhealthy appetite for television programming. Well awake toy companies capitalised on this. Teaming up with animation studios they suckered our underdeveloped minds into accepting whatever they had to offer. Years of brainwashing managed to cloud our recollection of their poorly conceived product and replaced it with unquantifiable affection. A by product of our desire to cling on to nostalgic memories.

Which might explain why so many people in their 30’s get upset everytime Michael Bay directs a new “Transformers” movie.

Let me clue you in to something if you weren’t already aware – these shows were nothing more than 30 minute ads to sell toys to young impressionable kids! Evolution has made the current generation savvy enough to not be so easily influenced by cheaply produced animation. Only big budget Hollywood extravaganzas will achieve similar results with them.

Another fad popular in the 80’s was to take a Japanese animated show, then dub and repack it to English speaking audiences. “Voltron” was a product of this process. Personally I never quite cared for such cartoons mostly because the dubbing and voice acting was horrible.Still I’d sit glued to the idiot box whenever they came on. If nothing else the animation was great and the any kid would love a show about a giant robotic lions forming a colossul robot!

If that’s your thing, and it probably is since you’ve reached this paragraph, then Dreamworks Animations new take on the classic series, “Voltron: Legendary Defender”, should be right up your alley.
