Morris from America movie starring Craig Robinson

Let Morris from America rekindle your youthful dreams

Movie Trailer Cast & Crew Information Asia Release Date Plot Summary

What a day for trailers. First there was “Pete’s Dragon” from the mouse house and now there’s a little dramedy “Morris from America”. Starring Judd Apatow’s once-upon-a-time token black guy Craig Robinson, it tells the story of a father and son who relocate to Germany. Finding it difficult to mix with the local kids Morris (played by Markees Christmas) turns to his passion – hip hop music.

Sounds heavy but director and writer Chad Hartigan mixes in a fair dose of humour. How can you not when you have a comedian of Robinson’s caliber? Having done the film festival rounds the coming-of-age tale has won good reviews too.

As a fan of hip hop and someone who once aspired to rock the mic like the greats this brings back some good memories. Not that this is an old school period piece. Morris listens to what appears to be a roster of current day artists and possibly idolises rapper Schoolboy Q. Good choice youngin’.

That’s another thing about this trailer I like – the soundtrack. Though it’s mostly gen-y rappers it sounds great. Hopefully we get an official soundtrack out of it. For now enjoy this incredible trailer for “Morris from America”.

“Morris from America” opens on limited screens in the United States on the 19th of August 2016. Tough date as it’ll be competing for eyes not only with the nationwide releases such as “Ben Hur”, “War Dogs” and “The Space Between Us” but also smaller pictures such as the President Obama-First Lady Michelle romance “Southside with You”. Rooting for this to find an audience and not be ignored like last years “Dope”.
