A gorgeous cast does not a good film make. Cameron Crowe may have successfully landed an amazing ensemble of today’s most desirable movie stars to suit the equally scenic Hawaiian setting of his latest “Aloha” but if reviews are to be trusted nothing can save this tragic mishap. White washing a ethnically mixed character by casting 50 shades of pale actress Emma Stone has the internet raising its pitchforks. Diving into reviews before judging something for myself isn’t something I do so I can’t really say what else is wrong here. However, having a movie lead by America’s poser boy Bradley Cooper open so poorly at the box-office shows moviegoers are happy to bid farewell even before saying aloha. The rest of the cast is rounded out by Rachel“I play 1 or 2 variations of the same character in every movie” McAdams, Alex Baldwin, Danny McBride and a rare appearance by Bill Murray in something not directed by Wes Anderson.
Does a second sequel to the Insidious saga interest anyone? Since it was actually greenlit and produced it has to, right? Made on a considerably shoestring budget the series has raked in an impressive US$250+ million at the global box-office. What is not so impressive is the fact that neither helmer James Wan nor leads Patrik Wilson and Rose Byrne have returned for this prequel. Screenwriter of the first two, Leigh Whannell, takes over the directors chair with a cast of relative unknowns. Horror fans never concern themselves with such things though so maybe this still stands a chance.

“Sex in the City” finally gets another sequel except instead of 4 empowered liberated white women we get 4 spoilt misogynistic man-children. What is sure to ignite the gender equality debate (with blatantly biased rhetorics) HBO’s long running series “Entourage” finally makes its way to the big screen. Following the exploits of Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his pals from Queens Doug Ellin’s series is probably a must-see event for the “bro crowd”. Unashamedly I admit to being a fan of the series but after the terrible, terrible happily-ever-after final season I’d much rather watch a movie about the adventures of Hollywood agent and now studio boss Ari Gold played by Jeremy Piven. Guess we can’t have it all like the guys from Entourage huh?
